Abstract
Two atomistic models are used to investigate defect structures formed when high concentrations of Al2O3 are disserved in the MgO lattice. Cl usters consisting of one magnesium vacancy charge compensated by eithe r one or two substitutional ions dominate. The results compare favoura bly with experimental lattice parameter data.
