Vb. Joshi et al., COMPARATIVE EFFICACY OF SERODIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES ON CHLAMYDIA-PSITTACI INFECTIONS AMONG LIVESTOCK, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 67(11), 1997, pp. 939-942
Indirect microimmunofluorescence test on 184 morbid specimens for the
detection of C. psittaci was adjudged to be superior than the conventi
onal staining of impression smears with Giemsa and Gimenez stains and
isolation in developing chicken embryos. The dot-ELISA was employed fo
r the confirmation of 172 isolates of C. psittaci vis-a-vis indirect m
icroimmunofluorescence and the efficacy of both the tests was observed
to be equal. The 3 sero-diagnostic tests, viz. complement fixation (C
FT), agar-gel precipitation (AGPT) and elementary body slide agglutina
tion (SAT) were compared on 910 serum samples and it was concluded tha
t the SAT can be performed for serodiagnosis of chlamydiosis in sheep,
goats, poultry, wild birds and pigs.
