ANOMALOUS INDOOR RADON IN A RESEARCH REACTOR

Major repairment activities were performed at the Triga Mark III resea rch reactor of the Nuclear Centre of Mexico during which the air extra ction system was put out of order for several weeks. A nuclear detecto r monitoring system, showed radiation signals well above the expected alarm values. After careful analysis of the problem, it was identified that indoor radon build up was the reason for those abnormal radiatio n signals.
