Abstract
The problem of predicting accurate wind rose sector populations for si tes in complex terrain with standard statistical methods is discussed. A new method for the calculation of sector populations is presented a nd illustrated with examples of wind data obtained in the UK. Assumpti ons of this new method are discussed and recommendations for its futur e use are made.
