Abstract
In this study, the statistical dynamic response of rectangular plates with stochastic mass density and Young's modulus of elasticity is inve stigated, using the perturbation technique in conjunction with the fin ite element method. The proposed method produces the expectation, vari ance, and autocorrelation function of the deflection, strain, and stre ss that are useful in estimating structural safety and reliability. So me statistical responses obtained by the perturbation method are check ed by the Monte Carlo Simulation. Also, the statistical dynamic respon ses of a rectangular plate are evaluated for parameters that control t he shape of the power spectra of the stochastic field.
