Ci. Simionescu et al., BLOCK AND GRAFT-COPOLYMERS WITH POLYSILOXANE AND POLY(N-ACYLIMINOETHYLENE) SEQUENCES, Die Angewandte makromolekulare Chemie, 253, 1997, pp. 139-149
A series of polysiloxane/poly(N-acetyliminoethylene) (PSiO/PNAI) block
and graft copolymers were synthesized by the initiation of 2-methyl-2
-oxazoline (MeOZO) polymerization with functional polysiloxane prepoly
mers. The copolymerization products were characterized by IR- and H-1
NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, DSC and thermogravimetry. The in
sertion of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic sequences in the macromole
cular structure induces a behavior characteristic of amphiphilic compo
unds. Their solution and solid state behavior evidenced peculiarities
which make them able to act as nonionic emulsifiers, surface modifiers
, gels, etc.
