The kinetics of thermal decomposition of decane sulfoperacid in a carb
on tetrachloride medium at 313-333 K in air in the presence of ethanol
, n-octanol, cyclohexanol, isopropanol, cyclohexane, and isooctane (rH
) was studied. The kinetics of peracid consumption was described by eq
uation dC/dt = k(1)C + k(2)C[rH]. The rate constants k(2) and the part
ial rate constants k(2)(CH) were determined. For isooctane and alcohol
s, the relationship between the partial rate constant k(2)(CH) and the
rH structure was described by the Okamoto-Brown equation. The logarit
hm of the partial rate constant log(k(2)(CH)) dropped linearly as the
alpha-CH bond strength in alcohols increased. The linear relationship
between the activation energy E-2 and the logarithm of the preexponent
ial factor A(2)(CH) was observed.
