An analytic solution for the elliptic boundary value problem with irre
gular geometrical boundary region using Schwarz's alternating method i
s presented. The application of the solution addresses to the physical
problems of temperature distribution and heat Aux within homogeneous
corners of buildings. A parametric analysis based on the general solut
ion derives the concepts of ''significant length'' and ''coefficient o
