AUTOIMMUNE DIABETIC NEUROPATHY

Recent work has shown that inflammatory vasculopathy is commonly seen in biopsies of diabetic patients with neuropathy. Most of these patien ts have had syndromes consistent with proximal diabetic neuropathy or amyotrophy. This suggests that inflammatory vasculopathy is important in the pathogenesis of these disorders. Immunosuppressive therapy may benefit many of these patients.
