In Zimbabwe, many claims have been made that homosexuality is alien to
local culture and has been imported by white settlers. This article a
rgues that what was imported was not homosexuality but homophobia thro
ugh the sexual erethism of colonizers imbued with Victorian incitement
and missionary zeal. The article also considers why most of the repor
ted trials for 'unnatural acts' in the last 30 years involve white men
, and what effect this has on this discourse of homosexuality as a whi
te man's disease.
