Col relation between the cranial base flexure with th:e sagital and ve
rtical positions of both jaws has been analysed on 180 radiographs of
eugnathic probands and 256 radiographs of patients with various malocc
lusion forms. Radiographs were analysed by conventional cephalometric
procedures determining maxillar rotation, mandibular rotation, sagitta
l position of the maxilla, sagittal position of the mandible, and cran
ial base flexure. A significant correlation between the degree of cran
ial base flexure and facial prognathism teas found. The correlation co
efficients,,were higher in eugnathic probands than in, those with malo
cclusions. Regression analysis defined three basic types of sagittal b
imaxillar relations: orthognatism, retrognatism and prognatism.
