Abstract
A liquid crystal thermographic technique has been developed and employ ed to determine the transient mixing characteristics in a stirred vess el of 100 mm diameter. The technique makes use of temperature as a pas sive scalar and shows promise fur the rapid and accurate determination of mixing time and temperature distributions in stirred vessels. Char acteristic results obtained in the 100 mm vessel stirred by one and tw o Rushton impellers are presented and compared with previously reporte d measurements obtained with other techniques.
