K. Yamasaki et al., APPLICATION OF A NEW METHOD TO THE DETERMINATION OF RATE CONSTANTS - EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF NOISE ON THE DATA, International journal of chemical kinetics, 30(1), 1998, pp. 47-54
A new linear regression method is applied to determine the rate consta
nts from time-dependent profiles. The method is effective for obtainin
g the rate constants of such consecutive processes as vibrational rela
xation. The ambiguity of ordinary nonlinear analysis is eliminated by
the linearization of regression equations. Because the new method also
determines relative detectivity, the nascent vibrational distribution
s immediately following reactions or photolysis can be obtained simult
aneously. In order to demonstrate the reliability of the new method un
der practical conditions, several examples of analysis of the data wit
h noise are shown in detail. (C) 1998 John Wiley E-Sons, Inc.
