Abstract
The frequency shift of thickness-shear-mode resonators (f(0) = 10 MHz) in liquids was described as combined effects of rigid mass loading an d viscous damping. The thus obtained relationship was used to determin e the activation energy of viscosity by impedance measurements on TSM devices in liquids at temperatures between 20 and 45 degrees C. Good a greement with literature data for water, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol , and 1-butanol was achieved.
