B. Poonkuzhali et al., COMPARISON OF HPLC AND EMIT METHODS OF CYCLOSPORINE ASSAY IN BLOOD AFTER BONE-MARROW TRANSPLANTATION, INDIAN JOURNAL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH, 102, 1995, pp. 39-41
Cyclosporine (CsA) analysis in blood from patients who had undergone b
one marrow transplantation for various haematological disorders was do
ne both by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and enzyme mu
ltiplied immunoassay technique (EMIT) and the results were compared. H
PLC kit from Biorad Laboratories, USA, and EMIT kit from SYVA, UK, wer
e used. The procedure for EMIT was slightly modified in - house to sui
t the Hitachi 704 discrete selective analyser. The CsA values obtained
by these two methods correlated well within the therapeutic range (r
value 0.96), HPLC method being most suitable outside the therapeutic r
ange. Although HPLC is the ideal method for CsA, EMIT is quite suitabl
e and can be adopted by ally laboratory with an autoanalyser incorpora
ting our modified procedure.
