Abstract
The stability of positioning is one of the most important characterist ics in flywheel energy storage systems with high-temperature supercond ucting (HTSC) magnetic bearing. in this paper, we experimentally discu ss the drift of the levitation gap in the flywheel system under the re volution. When the revolution speed of the flywheel rotor passes throu gh the mechanical resonant frequencies, the dynamics of the rotor show s the self oscillatory vibration. The vibration has a possibility to i nduce the nonlinear response which defends on the hysteretic force-dis placement relation of HTSC bearing system. The experimental results sh ow substantial levitation drift caused by the gyroscopic and the trans lational motion. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
