Abstract
The complexation of technetium traces with well characterized humic ac
id (HA) was studied using Tc-95m. Addition of Sn2+ as a reductant to a
solution (pH 4, 0.1 M NaClO4) of (TcO4-)-Tc-95m and humic acid causes
formation of Tc-HA and Sn-HA complexes simultaneously. The microamoun
ts of Tc-HA are detected both in the solution and in the precipitate o
f the macrocomponent, Sn-HA. The total yield of Tc-HA ranged from 50 t
o 70%. This suggests that the Tc-HA complex would be the main chemical
species under reductive conditions occurring in deep groundwater cont
aining humic acid.
