A syntaxonomic revision of vegetation of anthropogenic metalliferous h
abitats (mine spoils of lead, zinc and copper mining) in the Eastern A
lps (Austria, Germany, Italy and Slovenia) was made. The communities s
tudied belong to the Thlaspietea rotundifolii (Linaria alpina-Cerastiu
m uniflorum comm., Papaveri kerneri-Thlaspietum kerneri, Violetum duby
anae, Thlaspietum cepaeifolii, Thlaspietum rotundifolii, Scrophulario
juratensis-Erysimetum sylvestris, Minuartia gerardii-Silene glareosa c
omm., Epipactido atrorubentis-Silenetum glareosae and Sileno alpestris
-Moehringietum muscosae) and to the Asplenietea trichomanis (Sileno ru
pestris-Asplenietum). There is neither floristic support nor syntaxono
mic justification for the concepts of the Galio anisophylli-Minuartion
vernae, the Violetalia calaminariae and the Violetea calaminariae in
the Eastern Alps. These units should be included within the Thlaspion
rotundifolii, Thlaspietalia rotundifolii and Thlaspietea rotundifolii,
respectively.
