Abstract
The Seslerio-Caricetum sempervirentis and the Caricetum ferrugineae fr om the Northern Calcareous Alps show considerable ecological and regio nal variation. 412 releves representing both communities were classifi ed by cluster analysis. Several subassociations and variants were dist inguished and interpreted principally in terms of ecology and geograph ical distribution.
