Recent developments in capillary electrophoresis with fluorescence det
ection are reviewed. Instrumental advances have led to increased sensi
tivity and, therefore, a growing number of applications. Capillary ele
ctrophoresis has been coupled with various techniques to achieve multi
-dimensional separations. Other advances have focused on temporal reso
lution when sampling from biological environments, increased sample th
roughput especially for DNA analysis, and fast separation times. New t
echnologies including chip and channel electrophoretic separations wit
h fluorescence detection are also discussed.
