Abstract
Overall similarities among all genera and 18 of 20 species of icefishe s, family Channichthyidae, were determined based on data of the compos ition of axial metameric structures (unpaired tins and vertebral colum n). The results of a cluster analysis are compared with some tradition al ideas and the cladistic phylogenetic hypothesis about the interrela tionships of icefishes. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Inc.
