Abstract
The acute abdomen remains a surgical emergency. Prompt exploration and indicated surgical control of the source of peritonitis is the most i mportant component of therapy. Antibiotics are valuable adjunctive the rapy. The use of antibiotics as adjunctive therapy is discussed.
