Abstract
Plants have been regenerated from petiole explants of six elite sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) cultivars. Significant variation was found bet ween the responses of the six cultivars to elevated temperature and th e N-6-benzyladenine concentrations evaluated. The importance of genoty pe in the regeneration of plantlets from sugar beet petiole explants i s considered.
