Abstract
A sedimentological and facies sequence study, coupled with geochemical analyses (Sr, Mg, Fe, Mn and delta(18)O) was made on a core (Ravieres , Yonne; south-east Paris Basin, France) in the Bajocian-Bathonian car bonate-shelf sedimentary succession. By studying the strontium variati ons, geochemical cycles can be correlated to transgressive-regressive sedimentary cycles. However, the interpretation of the geochemical cyc les must refer to a different standard than the studies generally real ised in basin environments.
