FORENSIC PSYCHIATRIC RESEARCH IN THE NORDIC COUNTRIES - THE CURRENT STATE, POTENTIALS AND POSSIBILITIES

This paper presents the resources available for forensic psychiatric r esearch in the Nordic countries and the current research activities wi thin this field. Although the economic resources are generally insuffi cient, the Nordic countries are blessed with good opportunities for re search and research collaboration in the field. The opportunities for cross-national scientific cooperation are unique, specially as far as register-based research is concerned. So far these possibilities have hardly been exploited. Examples of potential collaborative research pr ojects are given.
