The FeCrAl-type alloys containing 15-20 wt.% Cr, 4.5-5.5 wt.% Al and s
mall amounts of reactive elements, most frequently yttrium or zirconiu
m, are the best oxidation resistant metallic materials at high tempera
tures. Into this group are classified together alloys which differ con
siderably taking into account their detailed composition, content of i
mpurities, and microstructure. This paper discusses briefly the simila
rities and differences between the oxidation behaviour of FeCrAl alloy
s with emphasis placed on the factors which may affect the rate of the
ir degradation.
