Abstract
The alder yellows phytoplasma (ALY) was transmitted to the experimenta l host Catharanthus roseus (periwinkle) via dodder (Cuscuta odorata) b ridges from naturally infected alder trees. The identity of the dodder -transmitted phytoplasma has been confirmed by restriction fragment le ngth polymorphism (RFLP) analyses of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-a mplified ribosomal DNA.
