Abstract
Cell biology depends on the interactions of macromolecules, such as pr otein-DNA, protein-protein or protein-nucleotide interactions. GTP-bin ding proteins are no exception to the rule. They regulate cellular pro cesses as diverse as protein biosynthesis and intracellular membrane t rafficking. Recently, a large number of genes encoding GTP-binding pro teins and the proteins that interact with these molecular switches hav e been cloned and expressed. The 3D structures of some of these have a lso been elucidated. (C) Current Biology Ltd ISSN 0959-440X.
