Abstract
Increasing numbers of adult clients present to psychological services with distress which may be consequent upon childhood sexual abuse. Lit tle systematic research evidence exists to guide clinicians or service managers on the treatment of choice for this group of clients. The ma jor approaches are reviewed and an assessment of their research base i s provided. Some innovative approaches are outlined, and consideration is given to contextual issues, The implications for service providers are examined, especially the need for varying levels of training a co -ordinated service and supervision.
