DIAMOND POTENTIAL OF THE KOLA-PENINSULA (RUSSIA)

The Kola Archaean craton and Archaean-early Proterozoic mobile belt we re distinguished in the region on the basis of the structural and tect onic analysis of the Precambrian basement. The intersection zone of th e abyssal Linakhamari-Por'egubsk lineament with the craton is consider ed favorable for kimberlite magmatism. The area where this zone is cro ssed by a latitudinal fault is most permeable and, therefore, most pro mising as a kimberlite province.
