A new chiral tridentate ligand containing two phosphines and one pyrid
ine is effective for Ru-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation of simple
ketones (47-66% ee). Ruthenium complexes with either chiral tridentat
e nitrogen ligands or chiral bidentate phosphorus ligands are either i
nactive or non-selective for asymmetric hydrosilylation. This work has
set a foundation for the asymmetric catalytic reactions based on chir
