H. Scurlock et al., CASE-REPORT - OSTEOPOROSIS AS A COMPLICATION OF CHRONIC ANOREXIA-NERVOSA IN A MALE, European eating disorders review, 5(1), 1997, pp. 42-46
We describe the case of a 38-year-old man, with a 23-year history of a
norexia nervosa, who developed severe osteoporosis which was discovere
d when he presented with a spontaneous crush fracture of his first lum
bar vertebra. This case demonstrates the need to consider osteoporosis
as a potential complication of chronic anorexia nervosa in male as we
ll as female patients.
