Abstract
The present investigation provides the correct expressions of adhesive stresses in Goland and Reissner's solution. An improvement on the inc onsistent plane stress and plane strain relations using in Goland and Reissner's original paper is achieved. A set of generalized equations are suggested for the adhesive analysis in dissimilar adherends with d ifferent thicknesses and lengths. Some comments on the proposed Europe an code of polymer composites structural design are also given. (C) 19 97 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
