Mazus pumilio is recorded from New Zealand, having recently been consi
dered to be restricted to Australia. The species is accepted as indige
nous and is considered a vagrant. A description of M. pumilio, based o
n New Zealand plants, and features that distinguish it from M. novaeze
elandiae are presented, as are observations on its distribution, habit
at, and conservation status.
