Y. Hirota et al., A NOVEL FUNCTION-BASED ON A LINEAR ARRANG EMENT OF CROWN-ETHERS ALONGTHE ALPHA-HELIX ROD, Kobunshi ronbunshu, 54(12), 1997, pp. 966-973
In order to construct a navel functional polymer, we prepared the alph
a-helical polypeptide with parallel arrangement of benzo-18-crown ethe
r side chains (seq-MG/18CrG) by using the ''monolayer reaction method'
'. Interaction between seq-MG/18CrG and cation was characterized bg sp
ectrofluometric and picrate extraction methods to evaluate their stabi
lity (K) and stoichiometry (n) constants, It was found, as a result, t
hat seq-MG/18CrG interacted with cesium ion to form 2(benzo-crown) : 1
(cesium ion) complex species and the stability constant was much large
r than that of random copolypeptide-cesium complex. This study found t
hat this supramolecular crown ether acts as an unique ionophore for ce
sium ion.
