Abstract
A new radiocarbon age determination of 3115 +/- 35 yr B.P. has been ob tained for a charred wood sample from within a block- and ash-flow dep osit at Mount Edgecumbe. Together with reliable dates for Holocene tep hra stratigraphy, the new datum leads to a stronger control on the chr onology of Mount Edgecumbe and implies that activity continued after t he widespread Waimahia Tephra dated at 3280 yr B.P.
