Abstract
The mathematical relationship between fiber-matrix interfacial shear s tress and drying shrinkage reduction due to fiber addition was derived for the purpose of estimating this stress from the measured drying sh rinkage of short fiber reinforced cement. For short carbon fiber reinf orced mortar, this stress increased with curing age, particularly abru ptly within the first 2 days and reaching 1.92 MPa at 14 days if slip between fiber and matrix was assumed and 3.46 MPa if no slip between f iber and matrix was assumed.
