Nitrite- and chloride-selective, ion correlation-based, nano-optodes h
ave been prepared for application in vitro. These fluorescent, liquid
polymer based sensors have theoretically predictable responses to anio
n activities and good selectivity, The nitrite sensor, prepared with a
vitamin B-12 derivative ionophore, would be useful for determination
of oxidized nitric oxide, Chloride nano-optodes, as well as micro-opto
des, prepared with an indium porphyrin ionophore, were utilized to det
ermine chloride levels both on the surface and inside the visceral yol
k sac of organogenesis-stage rat conceptuses.
