Am. Stalcup et al., APPLICATION OF CLASSICAL GEL-ELECTROPHORESIS TO THE CHIRAL SEPARATIONOF MILLIGRAM QUANTITIES OF TERBUTALINE, Analytical chemistry, 70(1), 1998, pp. 144-148
Although the last couple of decades has seen tremendous progress in th
e ability to do chiral separations, the ability to do larger scale chi
ral separations has lagged somewhat behind the current analytical chir
al separation state of the art. The potential of classical gel electro
phoresis for chiral separation of milligram quantities of chiral mater
ial is examined. A protocol for the chiral separation of milligram qua
ntities of terbutaline using sulfated cyclodextrin as a chiral additiv
e is demonstrated. The possible advantages of the approach are discuss
ed.
