This contribution presents a solution for a critical buckling force in
a thin two-ring annulus. Because of the changes in the properties of
each particular ring, the problem belongs to a group of plane elements
with so-called cylindrical orthotropy. The purpose of this study is t
o determine the critical radial compressive load depending on the chan
ges in bending rigidity of each particular ring, changes of boundary c
onditions and the manner of edge loading in this kind of annulus. (C)
