G. Kesby et al., FETAL INGUINOSCROTAL HERNIA - SONOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSIS AND OBSTETRIC MANAGEMENT, Ultrasound in obstetrics & gynecology, 10(5), 1997, pp. 359-361
Fetal inguinal hernia is a rare antenatal diagnosis. We present the so
nographic features and outcome of a fetus diagnosed at 36 weeks' gesta
tion as having an (indirect) inguinoscrotal hernia. Sonographic criter
ia for antenatal diagnosis are discussed within the context of differe
ntial diagnoses raised by the presence of a perineal mass. Guidelines
for obstetric management and counselling are suggested.
