Bioassay-assisted HPLC analyses yielded two prieurianin-type limonoids
, prieurianin and rohitukin, from the seeds of Turraea obtusifolia, wh
ich act as antagonists oi 20-hydroxyecdysone action in the Drosophila
melanogaster B-II cell line. With a 20-hydroxyecdysone concentration o
f 5x10(-8) M, the ED50 values for prieurianin and rohitukin are 10(-5)
M and 1.25x10(-4) M, respectively. (C) 1997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
