Abstract
Relationship between pressure sensitive adhesive, PSA, properties and
dynamic mechanical properties was examined for poly(butyl acrylate) PB
A/poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro acetone) P(VDF-HFA) blends. 1
80 degrees peel adhesion and probe tack were correlated with the ratio
of loss modulus G '' against storage modulus G'; G ''(omega(1))/G'(om
ega(2)), at the characteristic frequencies omega(1) and omega(2), call
ed respectively the debonding and bonding frequencies. Mean friction c
oefficient <(mu)over bar> of the PBA/P(VDF-HFA) blends was evaluated b
y use of a J. Dow ball tack tester. In the plots of <(mu)over bar> vs.
G' or G '', <(mu)over bar> exhibited a maximum against G' or G ''. Pr
esumably, <(mu)over bar> value in the low G' or G '' side of the peak
is dominated by the debonding process, while <(mu)over bar> in the hig
h G' or G '' side is influenced by the bonding process.
