Abstract
Quantitative fluorination of graphite has been achieved at ambient tem perature by the preliminary intercalation of iodine fluoride in HF + F -2 atmosphere. This fluorinated graphite LT-CFx was used as the cathod e material in liquid electrolyte lithium cells: fate capability tests were carried out. Results are presented in comparison with those obtai ned with conventional HT-CFx. An outstanding behavior with LT-CFx is f ound, especially at high rate. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
