Abstract
We formed thin films of vanadylphthalocyanine (VOPc), vanadyldibenzoph thalocyanine (VODBPc), and vanadylnaphthalocyanine (VONc) on sapphire substrates and measured their third-harmonic generation (THG) at 1.6 a nd 1.9 mu m. The chi((3)) values of amorphous and crystalline films we re in the order VOPc > VODBPc > VONc. The third-order hyperpolarizabil ities estimated at 1.6 mu m from the chi((3)) values of amorphous film s were also in the same order. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
