As. Makarov et Vl. Filippov, ATTENUATION OF IR RADIATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE PRESENCE OF PRECIPITATION, Journal of optical technology, 63(11), 1996, pp. 827-829
Based on the data of complex studies of the attenuation of optical rad
iation in precipitation in the form of rain, snow, and drizzle and the
ir relationship with the known results of measurements, a technique is
proposed for calculating the transmission of precipitation and the st
atistically valid parameters needed for using it. The advantages of th
e IR region are demonstrated. (C) 1996 The Optical Society of America.
