Abstract
This paper presents the results of the development of an optoelectroni c dust counter for measuring the mass concentration of industrial dust . The device is a portable prototype nephelometer with a closed volume , operating at a scattering angle of 60 degrees. The measurement range is 0.5-50 mg/m(3), the scale is 0.1-100 mg/m(3), and the sensitivity limit is 0.1 mg/m(3). The device can be tuned to various types of dust . It is equipped with a self-contained power supply and is suitable fo r use by industrial-hygiene services, public health departments, etc. (C) 1996 The Optical Society of America.
