Abstract
In many dynamical systems, an invariant manifold attracts the phase-sp ace how. These manifolds can be approximated by an iterative method ba sed on a functional equation treatment. However, a convergent mapping is not automatically generated from the functional equation. Neverthel ess, it is possible to construct a convergent mapping by a simple modi fication of the original functional equation. ks an example, a converg ent sequence of approximations to the slow manifold of the Michaelis-M enten system is constructed.
