J. Noad et A. Crosby, GEOLOGICAL INFORMATION FROM TELECOMMUNICATIONS CABLE ROUTE SURVEYS OFTHE CONTINENTAL-SHELF, Marine georesources & geotechnology, 15(4), 1997, pp. 323-333
Several burial assessment surveys using a seabed plough have been carr
ied our along routes on the United Kingdom continental shelf to assess
their potential for cable burial. Detailed information on sediment th
icknesses and characteristics within the top meter of the seabed was c
ollected using a survey tool called the Plough Surveyor Geophysical su
rveys along these routes have enabled correlation with the plough data
. Results include the range of tensions, tension trace characteristics
, and typical penetration, and these have been correlated with seabed
types and thickness of sediment.
