Jgh. Willems et al., HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY OF IMINE STEREOISOMERS ON CELLULOSE-BASED CHIRAL STATIONARY PHASES, Chirality, 9(8), 1997, pp. 727-731
A high-performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed fo
r the analysis of the intermediate imines and end products in an asymm
etric isomerization route toward optically active amines. Separation o
f the imine enantiomers was performed on commercially available Chiral
cel OD-H, Chiralcel OJ, and Chiralpak AD chiral stationary phases. All
substituted imine enantiomers could be readily resolved with selectiv
ities (alpha) higher than 1.10 using the Chiralpak AD column. By deriv
atization with ring-substituted benzaldehydes, aromatic amines were co
nverted into Schiff base derivatives and the enantiopurity of these am
ines was determined. (C) 1997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
